Five Years Later
It has been five years since Teen Challenge USA trademarked the Teen Challenge name and logo which necessitated the creation of the Certificate of Affiliation. Five years later there are still a lot of questions about it. In this edition of Connections online, I will deal with three questions I get often. The first question is does the affiliation agreement allow me to change the “Tag Line” in the logo? The tag line is that phrase “The Faith-Based Solution for the Drug Epidemic.” The answer is yes. The Teen Challenge USA Board of Directors ruled in 2008 that since many Teen Challenge organizations deal with more then just drug addiction, a tag ling that communicates that broader ministry can be used in place of the current one.
The second question I’m often asked is will any version of the logo work? The answer is no. The only version approved by the affiliation agreement is the logo with the registered trademark symbol present. You can get copies of this logo online at our staff.teenchallengeusa site. It is important that you use this logo showing the trademark symbol so the public can see that our name and logo is not available for just anyone to use.
The third question often asked is can the shape of the star-man and the position of it on the path be changed? The answer again is no. It is a registered trademark and the design and position can not be copied by anyone without being accredited by Teen Challenge USA. Different color variations can be used for special events, but the design can’t be altered. There have been many other questions over the last five years with new ones being asked from time to time. If you have other questions pertaining to the affiliation agreement, please don’t hesitate to email them to me at dougl@teenchallengeusa.com.
His Blessings,
