For those who have somehow missed all the updates to this point, here’s the summary. Three months ago Teen Challenge USA hired an additional IT staff, Ted Slater, to take over the day-to-day duties of the office so that I can begin full-time work developing an online student management solution for our residential centers, myTeenChallenge.com.
We have two overarching priorities: secure and simple. The first question I always get is about the security. Let me say emphatically that our number one goal is to provide a secure service. The secondary goal is a simple user interface. We’ll be focusing a lot of our energy on providing a service that is intuitive. This will mean, in some cases, that we’ll opt out of a complex module that meets 100% of our need if a simple, easy-to-use module will meet 95% of our need.
We’ve also limited the initial focus of the project–based on feedback we’ve received from you. Our initial modules will consist of Intake, Academics, Discipleship, Discipline, Progress Notes, and Aftercare — as well as some system modules: Staff/User Directory, Permissions Manager and Activity reports.
With an anticipated launch (nationwide) at next year’s national conference in August, we’re already less than a year away.
I’m glad you asked. There are two ways you can help, 1) pray for wisdom and patience for our development staff and Oversight committees, 2) Speak up. If you receive a survey request, fill it out. Have a thought, question, comment? Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
