Red Ribbon Week – Drug Facts Week

Written by Patty Baker on Oct 19, 2011

October is a busy month for drug prevention nationally.  October 23-31 is Red Ribbon Week – the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation. It is a way for pe0ple and communities to unite and take a visible stand against drugs. this year’s theme, “It’s Up to Me to be Drug Free,” reminds us that we each share individual responsibility in creating a drug-free environment.  This is a great time to use the Teen Challenge drug prevention program, Stay Sharp, in schools, youth groups, or after school clubs such as the Boy’s and Girl’s Club. October 21 – November 6 is the second annual National Drug Facts Week sponsored by National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). They are hoping to shatter the myths about drugs and drug abuse and get factual answers through community-based events.  NIDA provides a step-by-step toolkit to help plan activities at: http://www.drugfactsweek.drugabuse.gov\

If you participate in either of these events, please share them on the Teen Challenge FaceBook page at:  http://www.facebook.com/teenchallenge
