New Director Named
Former Presidential Advisor Henry Lozano returns to California to work with drug and alcohol addicts at the very center that helped turn his life around.
“No one could have imagined that the hopeless drug addict that was entering LATC would one day serve presidents and governors,” stated Henry Lozano new Director for Los Angeles County Teen Challenge and Urban Ministries Initiatives. “But that is what happened. Teen Challenge was there for me when I needed it. It changed me and the direction of my life forever. Now I’m back where it began and am excited to see the same kind of life-change and hope make a difference in the lives of those who need it today.”
Lozano completed the Teen Challenge program in 1974 and later served as Director of the men’s Christian Life School in Riverside and founded the Teen Challenge Ministry Institute. He has worked tirelessly on behalf of Teen Challenge centers across the United States for more than two decades and has been a frequently-sought speaker at Teen Challenge events.
Henry Lozano went on to serve his nation at the highest levels of government, including a position as Special Assistant to President George W. Bush and as Director of the USA Freedom Corps. He has received numerous appointments and citations from the administrations of US Presidents George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush as well as from California Governors Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jerry Brown.
“Henry Lozano is certainly no stranger to the Teen Challenge family,” Ron Brown, Executive Director of Teen Challenge Southern California, said while announcing the news of Lozano’s appointment. “I am delighted to have a person of Henry’s experience and character assume this important leadership position with Teen Challenge of Southern California.”
He went on to say, “Drug and alcohol addictions are a growing threat to countless families throughout the region and Henry’s status as a Teen Challenge graduate is living proof that freedom from drug and life-controlling problems is not just a dream but a reality.”
