Photo Project 365 for Inspiration
Amateur and Professional photographers around the globe are joining Project 365. Put simply Project 365 is the resolution to take a picture a day for the next 365 days. Yes, that’s right find something photo-worthy in your world every day for an entire year. From the smiles on your student’s faces to the drops of dew on the morning flowers, you’ll find yourself searching for beauty and light in your everyday living. Photograph your students in their daily routines: studying, working, praying, eating and just being together. Look beyond the students to your grounds and beyond – God’s creation.
Take the opportunity to stretch yourself creatively and learn some new photographic skills along the way. To help you get started, here’s a list of 15 photo ideas. Soon you’ll be thinking up new idea all on your own. And hopefully as you take the photos, ideas for stories, newsletters, blogs, and more will come to mind. Be sure to keep list of the ideas. Then you’ll always have plenty of ideas and themes for your communications. If you have some that we’ve missed please, do share them with everyone.

Some of the above ideas would easily lend themselves to a story line. A photo of groceries on the counter from one shopping/food pantry trip could inspire a piece about the cost to feed X number of students 3 meals a day, or about the volunteer that has helped cook for years. A story could be how students learn to cook meals, not meth – a new skill for them. A photo of a student and their reflection in the mirror can tell the story of how they are beginning to see themselves as a child of God and that they have worth. Plant photos can accompany a story about the growth in the students lives, how they are like a seedling, growing and stretching and reaching to the sun.
Sometimes you’ll see a great photo opportunity just the way it is, other times, you may need to add a prop or two, but keep watching. The more you watch, the more you’ll see. Please share your journey with us.
